Our Little Home - nice and cozy

House and Garden

Our House and Garden are nearly always our biggest assets and so we endlessly look for ways to improve them. Often our gardens are seen as another room, as part of the house. The house and garden become one. Whether the garden is large or small, the larger gardens can even have a house within the garden in the form of sheds or out-buildings.

This site looks to allow you to find the best deals for decorating, furnishing and generally upgrading your house and garden to maximise the potential of them both and to make for comfortable living. Often upgrading our house can add value to it when it comes to sell, but not only do we gain financially, we gain in a multitude of ways in living in a comfortable environment.

Of course, far eastern culture puts a great emphasis on this and built a whole mantra around it in the guise of Feng Shui (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feng_shui). Having the right Qi (ch'i) in your home makes for happy dwellers.

Happy house and garden

So where do you start? What can you do to make your house, garden and home a better place to live? Well the best place to start is the place where you spend the most of your time. If you work 9 to 5 - then the majority of your time at home will be spent in the living room or in bed. So start by concentrating on these areas 1st. Get the most comfortable sofa that you can afford, position it at least 3 meters from your television, and ensure that the television is not on an elevation or below a comfortable viewing level. Place side tables in easy reach of your seating positions so that you can easily rest drinks on them without over stretching. This makes for a comfortable environment to sit and relax. Pay special attention to lighting - soft, in-direct light is preferable to bright direct light from the ceiling.

Comfortable house and garden

Another area to pay attention to is the flooring - if you prefer wood or laminate floors, try a mat or rug in key areas in your living space e.g. in front of the sofa so that your feet are warm in the colder seasons. If you are not a keen gardener, consider reducing your lawn area so that cutting the grass is a quick and easy job. Try creating elevated borders so that weeding and planting is easy. If it's easy, you are more likely to do it. Invest in comfortable outdoor furniture for eating and entertaining guests for when the evenings are warm.
